Lexi App
People working in the sex industry need information that is immediately available: multilingual, anonymous and requiring no registration. This is precisely what the St. Gallen Department of Health and ProKoRe, a specialist service for sex workers, set out to achieve with a mobile app.
13 languages, managed via a spreadsheet
The app provides legal and health-related content in 13 languages. To ensure that translations and new content can be updated at any time without requiring a technical release, they are managed directly via a Google Spreadsheet.
Getting an app listed on the App Store
Getting an app about sex work through Apple and Google’s review processes is about as straightforward as having a conversation with a bot that dosen’t like the word “sex”. Unjustified rejections have to be appealed time and time again.
Software beyond code
The Lexi app is not only easy to use for end users, but also for the departments responsible for its management. As a result, a simple spreadsheet has, almost incidentally, given rise to a fully-fledged streamlined backend – complete with access management – without any additional effort.
